Limited Company Registration Requirements
LUMO Launchpad · Business name & company requirements

To register a limited company, prepare the twelve items below before you start. Having them ready at the beginning keeps the process fast and avoids delays at submission.

A. Directors and shareholders (items 1–7)

1. At least 2 directors

A limited company is managed by its directors. Appoint at least two people who are willing to take legal responsibility for running the company. A director may also be a shareholder.

2. NIDA number of each director

Each director must provide their National Identification Authority (NIDA) number, the 20-digit number printed on the national ID. It confirms who the director is and must match the name used on every other document.

3. TIN of each director

Each director needs a personal Tax Identification Number (TIN) from the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA). If a director does not have one yet, get it before registration begins so the details can be entered correctly.

4. Phone number of each director

Provide an active mobile number for every director. It is used for verification, official notifications and quick contact during registration, so use a number the director can answer.

5. Email of each director

Provide a personal email address for every director that they check regularly. Registration notices, confirmations and copies of company documents are sent there, so each director should have their own address.

6. Each director’s physical address

Give the residential address of every director: house or plot number, street or area, ward, district and region. This is a place where the director can be found, not only a postal box.

7. Each director’s signature

Every director signs the registration forms and company documents. Provide a clear, consistent signature that matches the one used on the national ID, because it becomes the director’s specimen signature on record.

B. Company identity (items 8–10)

8. Company name (e.g. Winga Company Limited)

Choose the name the company will trade under and end it with “Limited” (for example, Winga Company Limited). The name must be unique and not too close to a name already registered, so prepare one or two alternatives in case your first choice is taken.

9. Company niche (e.g. logistics)

State the main business activity of the company, such as logistics, retail, agriculture, construction or technology. It defines what the company is registered to do and guides the licences and tax accounts it will need later.

10. Physical office address (plot #, block #, house #)

Provide the registered office location: plot number, block number, house number, street, ward, district and region. This is where official letters and notices are delivered, so it must be a real, reachable place.

C. Capital and ownership (items 11–12)

11. Declared share capital

Decide the total value of shares the company declares at registration. The amount you choose sets the registration package and the official fee payable, so review the BRELA fee schedule in this menu before you decide.

12. Share subscription for each shareholder

List every shareholder with the number and value of shares they take up. The subscriptions together make up the declared share capital, and they show clearly who owns what percentage of the company.
